Vernon Davis holding out for new contract
49ers tight end said earlier he would report to minicamp

"In 2010 I signed a five-year, $37 million contract extension with $23 million guaranteed. It was the biggest contract for a tight end in league history. Four years later, and I’m playing at a higher level than I was then, which brings me to why I’m holding out. It’s all about getting paid what you deserve. It’s not that complicated." (SI.com)

FFToday's Take: Vernon Davis wrote the above in filling in for Peter King at The MMQB. Davis had previously stated that he would report to minicamp this week so this latest statement of a hold out is contradictory. Davis is the third-highest paid tight end in the league. The 49ers mandatory minicamp is scheduled to start tomorrow.
