Pierre Thomas gets 2-year extension
Saints keep leading running back in the mix
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 12 2014, 11:30 am

Pierre Thomas' extension keeps the running back under contract with the Saints through 2016, Smith said. Thomas initially was thought to possibly become a salary cap casualty, as his cap number for 2014 would have been $2.9 million, or trade bait. (Times-Picayune)

FFToday's Take: The biggest benefit for the Saints is the fact that Thomas' cap number for this season is reduced. Thomas led the Saints in rushing with only 549 yards but also had 77 receptions for 513 yards and 5 total TDs. He will compete with Khiry Robinson and Mark Ingram for touches in 2014.
