Bills unsure about Steve Johnson-- Thu Oct 10 5:50 pm --
Back injury could end 53-game streak
Buffalo Bills WR Steve Johnson missed practice Thursday as he is still back in his home state of California after a death in the family.
Coach Doug Marrone said it's going to be a "tough call" as to whether Johnson will be available to play Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals. Complicating matters for Johnson and the Bills is a lower-back injury suffered in Week 5 against the Cleveland Browns. He is not expected to return to the team in time for Friday's practice because of the distance he has to travel. (Buffalo News)
FF Today's Take:Since becoming a starter in 2010, Johnson has played in 53 straight games. However, it might not be the worst idea to give him a week off considering his likely physical and mental well-being. Furthermore, the Bills will be starting practice-squad QB Thaddeus Lewis, so Buffalo figures to lean on the ground game as much as it has all season. T.J. Graham would likely draw the start if Johnson sits.
