|Niners, Chiefs swap first-round busts -- Mon Aug 19 3:10 pm --|
WRs Baldwin, Jenkins traded for each other
|A.J. Jenkins, the Niners' disappointing first-round draft pick of 2012, has been traded to the Kansas City Chiefs for Jonathan Baldwin, the Chiefs' own underachieving top draft pick, both teams announced Monday morning.
Jenkins did not catch a pass as a rookie and has struggled in training camp. Baldwin, the No. 26 overall pick of the Chiefs in 2011, caught just 41 passes for 579 yards and two touchdowns in 26 games over his first two seasons. (CSN Bay Area)|
FF Today's Take: It's an interesting change-of-scenery swap for both players. Baldwin has the physical dimensions and talent to fit into the Niners' run-oriented offense, but not displayed any consistency catching the ball. For Jenkins, he joins a team that may be forced to start drop-prone Donnie Avery and could use his speed. Neither player, however, is on the redraft radar for now.
