Woodhead signs with Chargers-- Fri Mar 15 3:15 pm --
RB to play complementary role to Ryan Mathews
Another former New England Patriot is heading to the AFC West. Running back Danny Woodhead signed a two-year contract with the San Diego Chargers, the team announced Friday. Woodhead follows slot receiver Wes Welker to the AFC West after Welker formally signed with the Denver Broncos on Thursday. Woodhead, 28, had 301 rushing yards and 446 receiving yards for the Patriots in 2012 as well as seven total touchdowns. (USA Today)
FF Today's Take:Woodhead teetered on the edge of fantasy relevancy this past season in New England, and could see more touches in a less crowded Chargers' backfield. The 28-year-old had a career-high 40 receptions in 2012, and evidently has added value in PPR leagues.
