Titans decide against franchising Cook-- Mon Mar 4 2:30 pm -- Could become a free agent if agreement isn't reached
The Titans decided against using their franchise tag for 2013 on tight end Jared Cook or any of their other pending free agents. Cook was considered the player most likely to receive the designation, but now he can become a free agent next week if he and the Titans don't agree to a new contract. Indications are the two sides are far apart. (The Tennessean)
FF Today's Take:There was some debate on whether or not Cook should be tagged as tight end or wide receiver given he plays the majority of the time in the slot or outside. The Titans would like to have Cook back but they'll be in a battle for his services once the free agent market opens on March 12th.
