Jets have discussed JaMarcus Russell -- Tue Jan 29 12:15 am --
Talks deemed "very exploratory" and informal" | More recently, members of the Jets organization had some very exploratory, informal discussions regarding former Oakland Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell, the 2007 No. 1 overall pick who flamed out of the NFL after the 2009 season. Russell recently decided to mount a comeback in hopes of returning to the league next season.
At the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., the Jets spent a significant amount of time with the fast-rising Mike Glennon out of North Carolina State, according to ESPN New York. (Newark Star-Ledger)
FF Today's Take: Usually, a player that hasn't played a down of football in three seasons would not be worth an update. However, this is a former No. 1 overall pick we are talking about - albeit one that needs to drop about 40 pounds from his reported 305-pound frame before he any team should give him a look. Glennon was inconsistent with the Wolfpack but is certainly a first-round "arm talent" and could realistically push Mark Sanchez into a backup role if he is selected by the Jets in April.
