Chiefs not expected to draft QB No. 1     -- Mon Jan 28 7:10 pm --

May go free-agent route to fill biggest need
Unless something drastically changes, it doesn’t appear the Chiefs will find their next quarterback with that pick. This has long been considered a weak quarterback draft class -- after two strong classes, including the great class of 2012. That perception has not changed after the Senior Bowl. No quarterback dramatically helped his cause during the week. Unless someone does emerge the Chiefs can be expected address other needs with their top pick and take a flyer on a quarterback in the second round. (ESPN)

FF Today's Take: The Senior Bowl did not produce a notable "winner" in the bunch while West Virginia’s Geno Smith (widely considered the best quarterback prospect) and USC's Matt Barkley did not play. A trade down is also highly unlikely. The strength at the top of the draft appears to be on the offensive and defensive lines, so look for the Chiefs to go in that direction. A second-round QB selection is quite possible and a trade for Seattle's Matt Flynn - with his West Coast offense roots - makes sense as well.
