Injury Garcon leaning toward rest over surgery     -- Mon Jan 21 5:15 pm --

Recovering from toe injury
Pierre Garcon is still weighing a decision on whether to undergo surgery on his right foot, according to a person with knowledge of the Washington Redskins receiver’s health. That person, who was not authorized to speak publicly about Garon's situation, said he is leaning toward simply resting the foot cbut should make an official decision in the coming weeks. Garcon tore the plantar plate in the second toe of his right foot in the season opener at New Orleans and missed six games, but still finished with a team-high 633 yards and four touchdowns on 44 catches. FF Today's Take: Even as it became obvious Garcon would be hampered by the injury for the rest of the season upon his return to the field, he was still typially the one and only read for Robert Griffin III on a large percentage of pass plays. The Redskins would be wise to add to their talent at the position to protect themelves against another injury to Garcon (or fast-track Leonard Hankerson's development), but their main priority right now will be getting RG3 and Garcon back in time for Week 1.
