|Calvin Johnson continues to use the word "concussion" to describe the after-effects of the jarring hit he took in Week 4 from Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway. But as he described the lingering symptoms of that hit Thursday, it's apparent that what he suffered was more of a stinger, the pinching of nerves in the neck and shoulder area. "I had some nerve damage, so that was kind of messing with my grip a lot," Johnson said, explaining the several dropped passes he had after that hit in the subsequent weeks. "Not to blame it on that, but the concussion could have had something to do with some of that." Johnson went through the full medical protocol on the sidelines after that hit. The independent doctors ruled that he was not concussed. That's why he was allowed to return to the game. But Johnson said he felt a tingling sensation down his arm — which is what happens with a stinger. (Detroit News)|
FF Today's Take: This is another warning flag for Johnson, who is currently amid a less than spectacular season for a player of his caliber. To make matters worse, the Lions' offense face a tough assignment in the Vikings this weekend, who are currently ranked ninth in the NFL defending the pass.
