Alex Smith has sprained finger-- Tue Oct 9 12:30 am -- Source: Injury "nothing at all"
The only potential negative emerging from Sunday’s 45-3 shellacking of the Bills by the 49ers was the news that quarterback Alex Smith has injured the middle finger of his throwing hand.
The team downplayed the injury after the game, and for good reason. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Smith has a simple sprain of the middle finger on his throwing hand.
“Nothing at all,” the source said. (Pro Football Talk)
FF Today's Take:The main reason for this note is HC Jim Harbaugh suggested the finger was "very much a concern" earlier Monday. In all likelihood, Harbaugh was just engaging in a bit of gamesmenship with the Giants next up on the schedule in hopes that New York would spend some more time on Colin Kaepernick than it normally would.
