Brandon Jacobs runs well in practice -- Wed Oct 3 10:39 am --
49ers await for their short yardage back | Brandon Jacobs (knee) ran 60-yard wind sprints at the 49ers training facility on Tuesday “full bore.” Jacobs sustained a knee injury August 18th in a preseason game against the Texans. Currently the 49ers rank 22nd in the NFL at converting third-downs into first downs. Also, San Francisco was last at converting run plays of third-and-1 and third-and-2 last season. Upon Jacob’s return, he will most likely take over the short yardage and goal line carries. Last year as a Giant, Jacobs converted 17 of 24 short yardage situations. (San Francisco Chronicle)
FF Today's Take: While Brandon Jacobs will have a relatively small fantasy impact this year, because of his age and decreased usage, Jacobs will have an affect on the fantasy value of teammate Frank Gore. Frank Gore has had eight red zone touches this year, while Kendall Hunter has had six touches inside the twenty. The return of Jacobs will lessen the usage of Gore, beyond the pernicious effect Kendal Hunter has already had.
