Benson will see a continued work load     -- Tue Oct 2 1:44 pm --

Green Bay OC wants Benson to see carries
Packers offensive coordinator Tom Clements says the Packers will continue with Benson’s current workload. Clements said, “He’s a workhorse and when he touches the ball, the more he touches it, the better he gets. We’d like to work those other guys in there if the opportunity presents itself but you try to get [Benson] the ball to get him going.” Through four games Benson has averaged 3.56 yards per carry. FF Today's Take: The Packer’s anemic rushing attack could be the result of a sailor trying to fly an airplane. The Packers are constructed to throw the football and just because they want to run the ball does not mean they can capably gain yards on the ground. The Packers offense ranks 25th in the NFL in rushing, and Cedric Benson has only gained 228 yards on 64 carries this year. The Packers play the Colts rush defense that ranks 23rd in the NFL on Sunday, but Benson was only able to accumulate 84 yards on 18 carries against a Saints defense that is a league worst against the run.
