Hixon tabbed as Giants' third WR-- Sun Sep 2 6:40 pm --
Will begin the season ahead of Barden
For the second consecutive year, the Giants have turned to Domenik Hixon as the No. 3 WR. Hixon won the role last August after Steve Smith's departure to the Philadelphia Eagles and caught four passes over the first two games. However, he tore his ACL on the final catch - his second torn ACL in as many years. From there, he set off on another grueling rehabilitation process while Victor Cruz burst onto the national scene in his place and the Giants hoisted the Lombardi Trophy. (Newark Star-Ledger)
FF Today's Take:OC Kevin Gilbride hinted the arrangement was temporary, leaving the door open for Ramses Barden to claim the role if he can show well early in the season. While neither Hixon nor Barden can expected to burst on the scene like Cruz did, one of the two could produce like Mario Manningham did once Cruz became the obvious starter last season.
