Injury Blount's injury not significant     -- Sun Aug 19 7:05 pm --

Knee injury opens door for rookie Doug Martin
Buccaneers HC Greg Schiano said after the Titans' game that he did not believe LeGarrette Blount’s injury was significant, noting that the hurt area was closer to the groin than to the knee, as some feared. On Saturday, after the dust had settled, Schiano still appeared to be unconcerned about any long-term absence for the team’s incumbent starting running back. Blount was hurt at the end of a four-yard run early in the second quarter. He and rookie running back Doug Martin are expected to form a powerful one-two punch in the Buccaneers backfield this fall. FF Today's Take: Blount walked off the field after his mishap, later walked on his own power to the locker room and then returned to the bench in full uniform. Schiano's statement about the injury being closer to his groin was a bit of a shock to the many people who saw the hit. Regardless of how much time Blount misses, Martin now has his chance to secure the majority of the backfield workload for the Bucs, making him a savvy pick after the big-name fantasy backs are off the board.
