AP's lawyer proclaims client's innocence     -- Mon Jul 9 6:45 pm --

Suggests RB was the victim in club incident
The off-duty police officer who confronted Adrian Peterson used "vulgar language" and was "disrespectful" when asking the Minnesota Vikings running back to leave the club in downtown Houston over the weekend, Peterson's father, Nelson, told the Pioneer Press. In fact, the office of Peterson's lawyer, Rusty Hardin, released a statement later in the day proclaiming the innocence of his client, who spent Saturday morning in a Houston jail after being charged with resisting arrest for shoving and yelling at an off-duty officer. (St. Paul Pioneer Press)

FF Today's Take: Hardin said in the statement that his client "was never objectionable to other patrons and never physically resisted any police officer." Peterson did get pulled over for speeding some time ago, but has otherwise been an upstanding citizen since becoming a Viking. Assuming he receives a speedy resolution to this case, AP goes back to being an injury-risk fantasy RB2 with obvious upside if he can return to pre-injury form at any point in 2012.
