Falcons will monitor Turner's reps     -- Mon Jul 2 7:20 pm --

RB likely to see lightest workload since joining Atlanta
Falcons RB Gerald Brown, regarding the Falcons' backfield: "(Michael Turner) has been looking really well. Physically, he’s running the ball well. He’s right on pace, where he should be...Michael has been our workhorse for a few years. We discussed the possibility of making sure that we monitor his reps so that he can stay strong for us through the season and into December. We feel very good about Jason Snelling and Jacquizz Rodgers, too. This year [Rodgers] is going through the offseason and that is going to help him." (Atlanta Journal-Constitution)

FF Today's Take: After much talk about it over the years, this appears to be the year that Turner will see a reduced role in the offense. The change at offensive coordinator (from Mike Mularkey to Dirk Koetter) will likely put the emphasis on the passing game and let Turner cash in when the team reaches the goal line. While some of the extra rushes will fall in Snelling's lap, look for an expanded role with Rodgers in the passing game - particularly on screen passes.
