WR Wallace no lock for training camp -- Mon Jun 18 7:05 pm --
Some fear deep threat will miss significant time | Hines Ward's absence has brought on a transition period within the receiving corps. The longest-tenured receiver is fourth-year pro Mike Wallace, who wasn't around this spring as the others learned a new offense under first-year OC Todd Haley.
Wallace did not participate in the voluntary OTAs or the mandatory mini-camp. He might not show up to training camp on time, either. And if a long-term contract cannot be completed before the start of the season, it's hard to picture Wallace embracing any type of leadership role. (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette)
FF Today's Take: Since Wallace is not under contract, he is not officially holding out. The missed time is already troubling considering the Steelers are installing a new offense. Obviously, a prolonged absence from Wallace - a restricted free agent - likely means Antonio Brown will assume his role as the team's top wideout. In such a scenario, Emmanuel Sanders and Jerricho Cotchery will take on more important roles in this offense.
