Injury Jamaal Charles prepping for big return     -- Wed Jun 13 11:00 pm --

RB says he's "ready to go" following recovery from ACL tear
The Chiefs continue to work without running back Jamaal Charles, who tore his ACL in an early-season game in Detroit last year. But Charles all but guaranteed he would be cleared to participate when training camp begins next month. “When they let that cape off me, I’m ready to go. I’m ready to put my cleats back on and punish everybody in my way,’’ said Charles, who added that he felt so strong that he could play in a game today, if necessary. (Kansas City Star)

FF Today's Take: The 25-year-old was headed for a second straight campaign as an elite NFL running back in 2011 before an ACL tear derailed his season. If Charles is healthy he is likely to receive the bulk of the Chiefs' rushing workload, but expect offseason acquisition Peyton Hillis to eat up some of his carries, particularly on third down and in goal line scenarios.
