New England unsuccessful in trading veteran receiver
After spending Thursday trying to trade wide receiver Chad Ochocinco, the New England Patriots decided to release him. Ochocinco took to Twitter Thursday afternoon to thank Patriots fans. The Patriots pushed trade conversations with other teams up to near the end of the day's transaction deadline at 4 p.m. But despite conversations with other teams, there was not enough interest to make a deal. (ESPN)

FF Today's Take: Ochocinco was a fantasy afterthought last year and with all the additions at wide receiver by the Patriots this off-season (Brandon Lloyd, Jabar Gaffney, Donte' Stallworth it was tough to envision the veteran wideout making a significant contribution in New England in 2012.
