Sproles angling for "hard-nosed" carries -- Sun Jun 3 7:10 pm --
Wants power runs to keep defenses honest | Darren Sproles wasn't much of a surprise last season. With San Diego, he'd had all-purpose yardage totals of 2,210 in 2010, 2,323 in 2009 and 2,297 in 2008. But he's going to have his work cut out for him to pile up 2,697 yards or more this season - and he's ready to clock in.
"It's like, my role was to come in and catch passes," he said. "What I need to work on is more running the ball, like the hard-nosed runners. I only had certain types of runs, and I want to go in and run power (plays) sometimes. That will keep the defense honest." (New Orleans Times-Picayune)
FF Today's Take: While the notion isn't as crazy as it seems for someone of his size (5-6, 190), the Saints don't figure to go away from the formula that worked so well for them last season. As a result, don't expect Sproles to see much of an increase over the 10.8 touches/game he saw last season. Still, he is as dynamic as they come and figures to be a high-end fantasy RB2 again at worst. With an ADP of 3.06 right now, he seems to be undervalued in early drafts.
