Driver, Packers close on new deal -- Wed May 30 8:00 am --
Deal on the verge but yet to be finalized | Donald Driver's agent, Jordan Woy, told TMJ4's Lance Allan on Tuesday night that the two sides have agreed to terms and are on the verge of finalizing a deal. Driver is expected to restructure his current contract. He is due a $1.5 million roster bonus on the first day of training camp.
Earlier Tuesday, Driver had tweeted, ". . . It is now true. Packer for life." Now, one of the most beloved players in team history is likely to return for a 14th season. (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel)
FF Today's Take: Driver's leadership in the locker room is more important than his play on the field at this point in his career. Coming off his worst statistical season in 11 years (37 receptions, 445 receiving yards) Driver will be no better than the Packers' 5th option in the passing game behind Greg Jennings, Jordy Nelson, Jermichael Finley and James Jones with 2nd-year wideout Randall Cobb waiting in the wings.
