Injury Avery hoping to resurrect career in Indy     -- Sat Apr 7 8:20 pm --

Speedster hoping to put injury woes behind him
The book on new Colts WR Donnie Avery is he’s fast. When the Colts lost Pierre Garcon in free agency to Washington, they needed a burner who could go deep and stretch the field. A former second-round pick, he showed promise with 100 catches in two seasons with St. Louis. Then he blew out his right knee in a preseason game before the 2010 season. His right ACL was surgically repaired, but the Rams evidently didn’t see the same promise in a guy who once ran a 4.27 40-yard dash at his pre-draft pro day. Avery eventually landed in Tennessee but he couldn’t supplant the young receivers the Titans were playing. (Indianapolis Star)

FF Today's Take: With wide receiver Pierre Garcon and tight ends Dallas Clark and Jacob Tamme leaving through free agency, there will be a lot more football to go around in Indianapolis next season. Avery could be a nice low-risk, medium-reward option in the late rounds of 2012 fantasy drafts.
