Injury Seahawks interested in Mario Williams     -- Wed Feb 29 5:40 pm --

Seattle hopes to sign star free agent to bolster pass rush
The Seahawks are one of the main teams going after star defensive end Mario Williams, according to ESPN’s John Clayton. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft and a two-time Pro Bowler, Williams has 53 sacks in his six-year career with the Houston Texans. But the 27-year-old, who will be a free agent on March 13, missed 11 games last season due to a torn pectoral. Nevertheless, Seattle needs a pass-rusher — and Williams has a proven record of sacking and pressuring the opposing quarterback. (Seattle Post-Intelligencer)

FF Today's Take: The addition of an explosive end like Williams would certainly shore up the Seahawks' lagging pass rush. Seattle ranked 19th in sacks and 27th in forced fumbles.
