Westbrook Not Being Ruled Out Yet     -- Tue Oct 27 8:30 pm --

Reid "Counting On Him" Week 8 Vs. Giants
Philadelphia Eagles HC Andy Reid said on Tuesday that running back Brian Westbrook is undergoing tests for the concussion he incurred during Monday night's win over the Redskins. Westbrook will not be ruled out for Sunday's game against the Giants, according to Reid. In fact, Reid is "counting on that he'll be there, but we'll see how the tests go." Westbrook was injured on a 5-yard run midway through the first quarter of the game. He took a handoff up the middle and as he was being tackled the knee of Redskins linebacker London Fletcher clocked Westbrook in the head and knocked him unconscious. Westbrook laid on the field for several minutes before walking under his own power to the locker room. He joined his teammates on the sidelines in street clothes in the second half. Westbrook was replaced in the lineup by rookie LeSean McCoy, who had 14 carries for 37 yards. (philadelphiaeagles.com)

FF Today's Take: Despite Reid's optimism, it would seem foolish to send his franchise RB back out on the field less than six days after he was knocked out cold on MNF. McCoy is more than able to carry the load if necessary and makes a respectable bye-week fill-in or RB2 play in Week 8 if Westbrook sits, even against a tough run defense like the Giants.
