When it was over, when the Patriots quarterback had hit tight end Chris Baker for another touchdown, he merely jogged over, offered quick congratulations and sauntered off. As if with a shrug, Brady made his return from major knee surgery by leading the offense to the kind of productivity that many had come to expect. He helped the Patriots to a 15-point lead at halftime when the first-teamers exited, and they settled for a 27-25 win at Lincoln Financial Field last night. In building the lead, Brady was 10-of-15 for 100 yards with two touchdowns, both to Baker, and one interception. The margin was extended thanks to rookie Julian Edelman’s 75-yard punt return for a touchdown. “There’s no place I’d rather be. That about sums it up,” said Brady, who hadn’t played since the first quarter of the 2008 opener. “This is a place I have the most fun. A preseason game doesn’t have quite the feel of a regular season game. Still, to be out there on the field with my teammates, celebrating after a win, those are the things you enjoy the most.” (The Boston Herald)
