Stallworth Suspended For 2009 Season     -- Thu Aug 13 1:00 pm --

Can't Participate In Team Activities During 2009
The NFL has suspended Cleveland Browns receiver Donte' Stallworth without pay for the 2009 season because of violations of the league's substance-abuse and personal-conduct policies, the NFL announced this morning. Stallworth pled guilty to DUI manslaughter on June 16 after killing pedestrian Mario Reyes while driving drunk on March 14. Stallworth reached an undisclosed financial settlement with the Reyes family and was sentenced to 30 days in jail, plus two years of house arrest and eight years probation. Stallworth will be reinstated after the Super Bowl in February 2010. He may not participate in any team activity during the 2009 season. (Cleveland Plain Dealer)

FF Today's Take: The Browns will be able to keep Stallworth on the roster and have him available for the 2010 season if they desire. Stallworth was inline to start opposite Braylon Edwards this season - a spot battled for now by rookies Brian Robiskie and Mohamed Massaquoi along with veterans Josh Cribbs and Mike Furrey.
