Alfred Morris signing with San Francisco
Ran for 1,000-plus yards twice under Kyle Shanahan
By: Doug Orth | Aug 13 2018, 5:30 pm

With their top two running backs sidelined for the remainder of the preseason, the 49ers plan to sign RB Alfred Morris, coach Kyle Shanahan said on Monday. Morris, 29, a six-year NFL veteran, will join the 49ers in Houston in advance of the team’s two practices against the Texans and Saturday’s exhibition game. (NBCS Bay Area - Matt Maiocco)

FFToday's Take: Shanahan later told reporters he believes Morris has a chance to make the team. It feels more like Shanahan reaching out to an old friend familiar with his system in hopes he can help San Francisco's depleted depth chart at running back get through the preseason. Owners need to keep an eye on how he looks in the preseason, but the odds are against him making a fantasy impact if Jerick McKinnon and Matt Breida start the regular season out healthy.
