Peyton Barber has edge on starting job HC Dirk Koetter comments on RBs By: Mike Krueger | Aug 13 2018, 1:00 pm
After an underwhelming performance by rookie Ronald Jones in the preseason opener at Miami on Thursday in which Koetter said the second-round pick from Southern Cal was "average," it appears as though Peyton Barber has a good grip on the position.
"Peyton is our starter," Koetter said Monday. "We're definitely going to use Ronald Jones and take advantage of what he's going to do. We do have the two veteran backs behind him. Again, we've got three more preseason games. Let's just let it sort out a little more." (Tampa Bay Times)
FFToday's Take:We'll see if these public comments are just a way to light a fire under rookie Ronald Jones but at this point he is definitely behind Barber on the depth chart. Koetter's comments suggest this situation is in flux. In any case, Barber is currently a bargain in fantasy drafts as the RB61 (14th round) in PPR leagues.
