McDaniels bails on Colts, returns to Pats as OC Colts back to square one in coaching search By: Mike Krueger | Feb 6 2018, 8:00 pm
"After agreeing to contract terms to become the Indianapolis Colts' new head coach, New England Patriots assistant coach Josh McDaniels this evening informed us that he would not be joining our team," the team said in a statement. "Although we are surprised and disappointed, we will resume our head-coaching search immediately and find the right fit to lead our team and organization on and off the field." (ESPN)
FFToday's Take:Whoa. Reports suggest Patriots owner Robert Kraft sweetened the deal for McDaniels and ultimately convinced him stay on as the offensive coordinator. Speculation about Bill Belichick's future is running wild but it appears Belichick will continue serve as the Patriots HC for the near future. The Colts are now back to square one in their coaching search with most of the viable options already at a destination.
