Teddy Bridgewater cleared to return
Recovery from knee injury; will not come off PUP list right away
By: Doug Orth | Oct 16 2017, 6:55 pm

Teddy Bridgewater will soon hit the practice field. More than a year after his gruesome knee injury, which led many around the NFL wondering whether the former first-round pick would ever play a down of football again, Bridgewater was cleared by Dr. Dan Cooper to begin practicing, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday. Rapoport added Bridgewater is expected to be activated by the Vikings this week or next. "No, he won't come off the PUP list," Vikings HC Mike Zimmer said Monday. "He's going to practice, but he has 21 days and he'll stay on the PUP list until he's ready to play." (NFL.com)

FFToday's Take: It's a rare feel-good story for a player who was considered the Vikings' future at quarterback only about 15 months ago. Now, with Sam Bradford dealing with his own knee issues, it is possible Bridgewater will get a chance to prove himself again. In the meantime, Minnesota is getting serviceable production from Case Keenum, so there is no rush to hurry back Bridgewater. However, if he can show the team he is right over the next three weeks, he could overtake Keenum at that point.
