Green Bay Packers

Aaron Rodgers needs shoulder surgery
Broken collarbone; likely done for the season
By: Doug Orth | Oct 16 2017, 6:15 pm

Green Bay Packers HC Mike McCarthy told reporters Monday that quarterback Aaron Rodgers will require surgery on his broken collarbone. Rodgers was injured when Minnesota Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr drove him to the turf as he was rolling out. McCarthy didn't say when he expected Rodgers to be able to return, but said the quarterback would miss a "significant amount of time." He reiterated the team's earlier claim that Rodgers could be out for the remainder of the season. (USA Today)

FFToday's Take: Brett Hundley will lead Green Bay the rest of the way. There's no question expectations must be lowered across the board for all Packers' players, but such would be the case from Rodgers to just about any starting quarterback in the league. Hundley has a skill-set not unlike Jacoby Brissett and could be viable as a matchup-based starter. Jordy Nelson and Davante Adams should be downgraded to WR2s for the time being, while Randall Cobb will be difficult to start.
