Cam Newton (shoulder) is throwing in team drills today. (The Charlotte Observer) FFToday's Take: Reports surfaced over the weekend Newton would see an increased workload this week, and it appears that is exactly what happened. It remains to be seen whether or not he'll take part in Thursday's dress rehearsal against Jacksonville, but he seems certain at this point to be ready in time for the regular-season opener against San Francisco. Newton should be considered a low-end QB1, but one with obvious upside.
