| Sean McDermott takes over in Buffalo Ex-Panthers DC expected to have "shared say" over roster By: Doug Orth | Jan 12 2017, 6:00 pm
| The Buffalo Bills ended their latest head-coaching search on Wednesday, agreeing to hire Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott to succeed the fired Rex Ryan.
McDermott, 42, was one of four coaches to interview for the Bills' vacancy, along with interim coach Anthony Lynn, Arizona Cardinals offensive coordinator Harold Goodwin and Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Kris Richard. (ESPN)
FFToday's Take: Although Lynn was long considered the front-runner, the Bills did well to land McDermott, who is expected to make Buffalo a 4-3 defense again. More importantly, the former Carolina defensive boss should be exactly the disciplinarian players such as Sammy Watkins asked for following the firing of Ryan. McDermott's got some work to do - such as figuring out who his quarterback will be - but the Bills should now be headed in the right direction.
