FFToday's Take: Taylor, Josh Jacobs and J.K. Dobbins are a few of the high profile running backs that are squabbling with their team's management over contract issues. Taylor is also dealing with an ankle injury which further complicates matters. Even if Taylor reports back to the team, it seems like we have a long way to go before this situation is rectified.

FFToday's Take: While it not for certain that Dobbins is missing camp due to dissatisfaction regarding his contract, comments like this suggest that is almost certainly the case. While it is a shame Dobbins hasn't getting any reps in new OC Todd Monken's offense, he should not have much of a problem acclimating. Dobbins is set to explode for fantasy purposes this season with Baltimore embracing a more wide-open offensive attack - one that aligns with his explosiveness quite nicely. As long as he reports to camp in the next week or two, consider him a strong RB2 option with RB1 upside.

The Browns weren't able to escape Monday's full-contact practice in the rain without getting an injury scare. This one was to a key piece of their running back rotation behind Nick Chubb. Jerome Ford hobbled off the field after a play with an injury to his right leg. After sitting down on the sideline with a trainer for a moment, he limped into the team facility. The injury was later confirmed as a hamstring issue following practice. (Akron Beacon Journal)
FFToday's Take: There is no word on the severity of the injury yet, but we can expect Ford to miss a few practices at very least. Assuming the injury is minor and Ford can return in a week or two, Ford should be considered a high-priority handcuff for Nick Chubb managers. While he may not inherit the same role Kareem Hunt held in recent years for the Browns, Ford should see enough touches to push for flex value as a standalone option.

After the draft, the No. 1 tight end spot appeared like it would be a battle between Jake Ferguson and second-round pick Luke Schoonmaker. But the rookie hasn’t been practicing because of plantar fasciitis. Ferguson is the clear No. 1 and the favorite to get the majority of the targets that had gone to Dalton Schultz over the past three seasons. Schultz, who is now with the Houston Texans, averaged 94 targets per season over the last three years. Ferguson was targeted 22 times as a rookie last year, finishing with 19 receptions for 174 yards and two touchdowns. Those numbers should increase significantly this season. FFToday's Take: File this one away under "most likely late-round tight end to finish as a low-end TE1." Schultz is nothing special as an athlete and was a frequent underneath target of Dak Prescott for a few years. It would be too much to ask for Ferguson to replicate Schultz's production given the firepower Dallas has at receiver now (CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks and Michael Gallup), but a 60-catch season is very much within reach for him.

FFToday's Take: We've been waiting for the league discipline piece on this issue for quite some time and now we have it. The Saints have Jamaal Williams and rookie Kendre Miller to lean on while Kamara is out but expect Williams to do the heavy lifting. Kamara's RB31 ADP is probably a bargain given his talent. Drafters expecting a bounceback season can feel comfortable with him as their RB3.

FFToday's Take: Williams is coming a serious knee injury that not only affected his ACL, but also his LCL. As we saw with J.K. Dobbins a year ago, it can take some time before players are back on the field and playing at their highest level. Getting action in pre-season games will give us another data point on his recovery. Expect Samaje Perine to be a factor in the Broncos running game regardless of how quick Williams progresses.

Cooper Kupp left Tuesday’s practice with a member of their medical staff, and did not return.
Coach Sean McVay said after the practice he did not know what Kupp’s status was, and had not yet spoken to the athletic training staff about the situation.
“I saw he looked like he came up a little bit on a red zone route, and then I just know they told me he was out for practice,” McVay said. “I have no more information than that.” (The Athletic - Jourdan Rodrigue)
FFToday's Take: The Athletic's Jourdan Rodrigue shared a video on social media that shows what appears to be the moment Kupp pulls up. While a non-contact injury is rarely ever good, it is at least a good sign that Kupp walked off the field under his own power. Assuming the injury is not serious and he is good to go for Week 1, Kupp can make a strong case to be the top overall receiver selected in fantasy drafts.

Dalvin Cook visited the Jets (on July 30). He left without a contract. Saleh called it a “good” visit, but Jets aren’t “pushing” or “pressing” the issue. Basically, there’s no timeline for a signing. Cook needs to do what’s best for his family. The back’s desire to play for the Dolphins is pretty well known. It’s also important to know the Jets don’t need Cook. He’d be a welcome addition, but it’s a case of luxury, not necessity. Any contract offer from Joe Douglas will reflect that. (SNY - Connor Hughes)
FFToday's Take: The Dolphins may not be the betting favor to land Cook, but they probably should be. Signing with the Jets maybe allows Cook to enjoy a fairly sizeable early-season role, but he would almost certainly be stuck in an even timeshare - at best - with Breece_Hall. With Miami, Cook would go to his hometown town and likely assume a lead-back role ahead of rookie Devon Achane, Jeff Wilson and Raheem Mostert. Stay tuned.

FFToday's Take: Both Patrick and Hamler have had trouble staying on the field. Hamler has played just 10 games the last two seasons while Patrick missed all of 2022 with an ACL injury. This opens the door for rookie Marvin Mims who the Broncos drafted back in April. They also have Marquez Callaway that Sean Payton recruited from the Saints.

FFToday's Take: Bateman cannot seem to buy a break when it comes to his health, as groin injuries as a rookie and a Lisfranc sprain last season have limited him to 18 games through two seasons. Fantasy managers got a taste of what he is capable of early last season with long touchdown catches in the first two games, but the foot injury in Week 4 marked the beginning of the end for him and his fantasy usefulness. Bateman has WR3 upside if he can get right, but Odell Beckham Jr. and rookie Zay Flowers stand to benefit the most if he can't.

Toney, who underwent an offseason cleanup procedure on his knee, was injured while fielding a punt before the start of practice on Sunday. (ESPN)
FFToday's Take: This isn't helping Toney's injury-prone label. He's had a rough time staying on the field during his short NFL career, playing in 19 games in two years. He's inline to be a big part of the Chiefs offense but will come with a huge red flag for drafters willing to take on his injury risk.

The top slot receiver option appears to be Skyy Moore, the second-year player who will try to replace some of the production that JuJu Smith-Schuster generated last season. Moore was one of the best performers during mandatory minicamp last month.
“Skyy’s worked real hard this offseason,” HC Andy Reid said then. “He looks like he’s on the same page with (Patrick Mahomes). He’s doing a nice job. Let’s keep on advancing as we go. He’ll do that because he’s wired right to do that.” (The Athletic - Nate Taylor)
FFToday's Take: The expectation is that Moore will start the season in the slot, although rookie Rashee Rice and/or Richie James could make it hard for him to keep the job. Travis Kelce logged more snaps in the slot (343) than any other Chief last year, including Smith-Schuster (270), although the latter was easily the team's most productive wide receiver (78-933-3). Moore is highly unlikely to match that level of production in 2023, but a primarily slot receiver in a Patrick Mahomes-led offense is worth stashing as a WR5 option late in drafts.

FFToday's Take: Jacobs will not get fined for missing any practices since he did not sign the franchise tag. For his part, Jacobs has reportedly stated he could sit out training camp. He also mentioned earlier in the summer that one of his goals was to help his fellow running backs fight back against the devaluation of the position. Jacobs should see another huge workload in 2023 if/when he signs, but he is at increased risk of breaking down after handling 393 touches last season.

FFToday's Take: Since Barkley has yet to sign the tag, he will not get fined for missing training camp - if he chooses to do so. He has also reportedly threatened to sit out into the season. It seems unlikely Barkley would go that far, but fantasy managers need to account for that possibility when they consider drafting him this summer. The Giants hold the leverage for now, but they need a happy and healthy Barkley to have any chance of making a deep postseason run in 2023.

The Tennessee Titans are expected to sign free agent wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to a two-year deal which is expected to be complete over the next few days. It would give Hopkins a base salary of $12 million in the first year and could reach up to $15 million with incentives, sources told Russini. (ESPN)
FFToday's Take: Tennessee is definitely in need of star power at the wide position and they'll get it in the form of Hopkins who has been in the league for 10 seasons. The question is, how much does Hopkins have left in the tank? Is he capable being a fantasy WR1 in the Titans offense alongside Treylon Burks? He's probably best slotted as a WR2, while taking a good chunk of shine off Burks.

FFToday's Take: The Bengals were looking to adjust Mixon's contract and the possibility of a release was a real thing. In the end, Mixon agreed to a lower salary while saving the team some $ under the cap. Despite a subpar 2022 season, Mixon is likely to lead the team in running back touches and has been slightly undervalued in early-season best ball drafts.

Alvin Kamara has agreed to plead guilty to a lesser misdemeanor charge for his alleged role in a 2022 Las Vegas fight. The felony charge is going away. Kamara is still subject to a possible suspension by the NFL, which has punished several players in the past even when they weren’t convicted or charges were dropped. But this should pave the way for league to hand out discipline. (Mike Triplett on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: What the discipline is remains to be seen but the reduced charge could lead to a shorter suspension. Kamara will have be subject o 30 hours of community service and pay the victim $100K for medical bills. The Saints have added Jamaal Williams and rookie Kendre Miller to their running back room giving them plenty of depth the whether any kind of Kamara suspension.

Denver Broncos RB Javonte Williams, who suffered a torn ACL in Week 4 last season, said Sunday "the plan" is for him to be cleared for the start of training camp and to participate at least some in practices after the team's veteran players report July 25.
Asked Sunday at a football camp he hosted with Broncos cornerback Pat Surtain II if he would be medically cleared for training camp, Williams said: "I mean, that's the plan. I feel like I'm ready to go." (ESPN - Jeff Legwold)
FFToday's Take: For his part, Surtain told ESPN's Jeff Legwold that Williams "looks good." Caution needs to be exercised with Williams as he hopes to avoid becoming yet another running back who struggles in the first year after blowing out his knee. Denver appears committed to getting Samaje Perine plenty of work regardless of Williams' health, but there's no question the latter can still be a fantasy RB2 if he is truly all the way back. The odds are that he will be worked in slowly this season, making him more of a risky low-end RB2 option.

Running back Jonathan Taylor missed time with an ankle injury and he had surgery to address the injury this offseason. That kept him from taking part in the team’s offseason program, but Jim Irsay said on The Pat McAfee Show that Taylor is “healed up ” with training camp set to start later this month. FFToday's Take: The likelihood is that Taylor has been healthy for at least a month, but this is just the latest reminder that high-ankle sprains are no joke and often take months to heal. The addition of the supremely athletic Anthony Richardson figures to boost Taylor's efficiency behind what has become an average-at-best line and may be just what he needs to return to overall RB1 status. Taylor's receiving numbers are sure to plummet, but he should be a good bet for well over 300 carries in what should be one of the most run-heavy offenses in the league.

FFToday's Take: Sanders has been limited in the passing game the last three years in Philadelphia after totaling 50 receptions in his rookie campaign back in 2019. It's in his range of outcomes to hit that mark again in Carolina which would make him a bargain at his current ADP (RB21 in half-PPR leagues). Overall team efficiently is going to be a concern with a rookie quarterback at the helm but at least the head coach speak is positive on returning Sanders to a three-down role.

The Dolphins have made an offer to free agent running back Dalvin Cook, but he’s holding off on a decision for now, a source close to the situation told The Miami Herald. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported this week that Cook has generated significant interest and has offers from multiple teams. But Cook apparently doesn’t have an offer that fully meets his financial expectations. And he’s willing to wait awhile, perhaps beyond the start of training camp, according to Pelissero. FFToday's Take: Other teams reportedly interested in Cook include the New York Jets, Patriots and Broncos. Cook has expressed casual interest this off-season in the Dolphins who already have six running backs on the roster including Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson and rookie Devon Achane. The free agent running back market is flush with veterans including Ezekiel Elliot, Kareem Hunt and Leonard Fournette.

Rams are bringing back veteran running back Sony Michel. It’s a one-year deal, per source. Michel is a great veteran presence to have in that group, which the Rams didn’t have to start last year and really could have used. He knows the system, is a total pro, and can take some of those complementary shorter-yardage snaps if needed. That’s what this seems like. (Jourdan Rodrigue on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Michel's presence shouldn't be a big threat to Cam Akers workload but he take away some looks around the goaline. Assuming he cracks the roster post-camp, he'll likely slide in as the No.2 running back ahead of Zach Evans and Kyren Williams.

Bills star wide receiver Stefon Diggs didn’t participate in or attend the team’s mandatory minicamp session Tuesday, leading Buffalo coach Sean McDermott to say he’s "very concerned" by the wideout’s absence. McDermott wouldn’t go any further into the situation after Tuesday’s practice on whether it was an excused absence. (The Athletic)
FFToday's Take: This is a curious situation considering Diggs just had has contract re-worked this past March and set to make $24 million this season. He left abruptly after the team's loss to the Bengals in the playoffs and hasn't attended any of the team's off-season workouts. Stay tuned...

Saquon Barkley and the New York Giants have until July 17 to come to a long-term contract, or the running back will play 2023 under the $10.1 million franchise tag. Unless he sits out the entire season. Barkley told reporters Sunday following his youth football camp in Jersey City that sitting out the campaign is an option he'd consider if it comes to that. FFToday's Take: These contract disputes with franchise-tagged players typically get resolved so there's no need to panic about Barkley sitting out the season. The current situation is, he's yet to sign his franchise tag and isn't expected to attend mandatory minicamp this week. Stay tuned...

FFToday's Take: We've heard the rumblings all off-season and now it appears Cook's release is imminent barring a last-minute trade. According to Adam Schefter, Miami and Denver are expected to be interested in the soon-to-be free agent. Cook (27) has battled shoulder issues throughout his career but has poster four-straight 1000-yard rushing seasons and has been a solid fantasy RB2 during that span. We wait for his landing spot...

FFToday's Take: Trade rumors have surrounded Hopkins this off-season but it appears no suitor could be found. Hopkins is joe free to negotiate a deal with any team. The Bills and the Chiefs have been connected with the veteran receiver but a number of WR needy teams are likely to kick the tires.

FFToday's Take: Kicker news! The Jaguars signed recently released Brandon McManus (DEN) which made Patterson expendable. Patterson was 30 for 35 (84.4%) in field goals last season and has missed just one extra point in two seasons. Mike Badgley is currently on the roster in Detroit but maybe not for long.

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo underwent surgery on his injured left foot after signing a free agent contract with the team in March, a league source confirmed to ESPN.
"All trending great," a source said. (ESPN)
FFToday's Take: This didn't seem to come a surprise to head coach Josh McDaniels who didn't have much to say on the subject when speaking to the media today. Garoppolo is not expected to take part in OTA practices and could be out until training camp. This isn't an ideal situation for a quarterback changing teams but it's nothing to panic over if you're currently a Garoppolo owner.
