Deuce McAllister vs ATL
Atlanta was not kind to the prognosticators last week; they thoroughly embarassed a supposedly potent Giants offense and walked away with a rare stifling victory for themselves. Mike Vick cannot save the team this year, and he probably wouldn't have done it if he was healthy all year, since the defense plain blows. Which was why, returning to my point, the Falcons screwed over anyone who wrote up Giants players as high scoring last week, or who started them and salivated over point totals that were not meant to be. The Saints, however, do not fool around with Atlanta. They smoked 'em once already this year, and although they lost both games in 2002, Deuce has enjoyed himself against the Falcons. With Horn hurting look for the Saints to press their advantage with the ground game.

LaDainian Tomlinson at DEN
Doug Flutie just cracks me up. What a career this guy's had--and I mean more by the ups and downs and odd situations than the quality of play. I mean, he's always been a tease. He'll win you games you never should have won, but week in and week out he seemed to lose focus. And now of course he's 74 years old. Or 40...something, I dunno. But he sure looked sweet against a shocked Vikings D, didn't he? Marty's no fool, he knows Flutie is not going to pile up 4 TDs a game, and he knows who his real jewel is--LT2. He has dropped some serious numbers on people this year, including 93 against Denver in Week Two. The Broncos can't help but divert a little bit of their attention to what magical flutenotes Flutie will try to play, and so look for San Diego to try to pound it and eat clock on the road instead. Slight risk of the Broncos blowing them out early, but it's a division game and Tomlinson will get a fair number of carries regardless.

Domanick Davis at BUF
How can you not like this guy? He's a rookie on a still expanding team, a little fella at 5'9"/216, who's already got almost 600 yds with only 4 starts. And he's caught 31 balls too. All but one were in losing efforts, but Davis has shown great speed and a compact body that bounces off tacklers. The Bills are in total disarray right now after a gangbusters start to the season. Bledsoe looks awful, Henry's not getting the carries, Moulds has been hurt, and Reed has been a disappointment. The Texans should be able to stay in the game for a good while, and Davis should see success against a fairly pedestrian Bills rush defense.

Tyrone Wheatley vs MIN
Is this the last hurrah for Tyrone Wheatley? Charlie Garner has suffered through injury, and yet Wheatley has had trouble holding off rookie Justin Fargas for carries, not to mention the continued vulturing of Zach Crockett. Guessing who comes out with the most points week to week is like picking from among Cowboys or Browns receivers--near pointless. But Fargas is not quite ready to take a full load, especially in protection schemes for (gulp) Rick Mirer. Wheatley should be able to roam against the Vikings, especially if Mirer is successful against an exposed secondary.
