Guest Writers ---

Updated: 6/17/02
We are very happy to feature the efforts of these fine fantasy football writers for the 2002 season. You'll laugh, you'll cry, and you just might learn something. Well, maybe you won't feel any of those emotions, but check out their work anyway!

If you're interested in becoming a Guest Writer at FF Today, drop us a note and we'll discuss the possibilities.

John Tierney

John was born and raised in Bay Area of California, which explains his addiction to the Raiders. He received a BA from Staislaus State in Political Science with a minor in Journalism and Communication. After knocking around in radio, journalism and music, he decided to become a teacher. Eleven years ago he moved to Elko Nevada to teach history to eighth graders and this is where his interest in Fantasy Football took hold. He plays in two leagues and has had continued success in both. Aside from writing for fftoday, John writes historical fiction, is a golf addict, musician, and fly fisherman. You can check out the band's web page at www.stormfrontnv.com.

The Soloist

The Soloist

A resident in the DC area, The Soloist is a 7 year veteran of fantasy football both free and for fee leagues. He has some strange allegiance to the the Raiders and will throw his support behind the Eagles when he gets a chance. (Between Tierney, Mondt, and Solo, I get enough Raider talk to make me puke.) Jeff loves to speak his mind which is why we love him here at FF Today and we look forward to his work in 2002. Why "The Soloist?" He won't say, but lives and dies by this motto: It's better to travel alone than with a bad companion!

Andy Richardson is a writer, editor, and diehard football fan who has written a regular online NFL picks column and run football pools for years. He discovered fantasy football five years ago and has spent his time obsessing about it since then. Andy is a loyal Green Bay Packers fan whose best moment, naturally, came in Super Bowl XXXI. Regrettably, especially since he lives in Denver, Colorado, one of his lowest moments came just a year later in Super Bowl XXXII. He has gainful employment as a marketing writer, and spends his free time bouncing trade ideas and roster moves off his wife, Emily, and throwing a severely damaged football around with his dog, Max.

Tim Wichmer is an immigration attorney in St. Louis, Missouri and suffered through lots of bad St. Louis football until the Rams hit paydirt last year. He is commissioner in two fantasy leagues and has enjoyed success. He has a wife and three kids he essentially abandons from September through January in order to sit in front of a TV or computer 22 hours a day trying to win ridiculously small amounts of money and the respect of like-minded geeks.

He currently is commissioner of and participant in the George Blanda Rotisserie Football League (GBRFL), which was established in 1993. He has won two League Championships, most recently the 1999 crown. In addition, he established the Crystal Ball Fantasy League (CBFL), a spin-off on FF Today's Mock Draft #1. To learn more about him and the unique circumstances under which he has participated in fantasy football, take a look at the Pro Football Weekly article "Long-distance relationship".

Mark Bond

Mark Bond has been playing fantasy sports for 18 years. He began playing fantasy baseball and followed with fantasy football six years later. He has followed that with golf, hockey, NASCAR, basketball and quoits. His original fantasy sports writing started back in 1984 with his baseball leagues post-season guides. The mania escalated to self-publishing a fantasy baseball book in 1991. After writing for several sites on the Internet, Mark was hired for the ill-fated FOXSports Fantasy Site. Being of neither sound mind nor sound body Mark took that beheading in stride and is currently employed as Content Producer for Jackpot Sports. He lives northwest of Los Angeles with his lovely wife Janet, two girls Elizabeth and Rachael, and greyhound Polly. When not annoying co-workers about his amazing fantasy sports success, he can be found listening to Stevie Ray Vaughn at sonic boom levels, quaffing sausage and chili sandwiches by the dozen, and dreaming of warm evenings with Janet Reno.

Bill Aquaviva

Bill is in his 10th year of fantasy football and his 2nd writing for Fantasy Insights. He has both played in and commissioned leagues, although he prefers to play in multiple leagues. He has made the playoffs in 7 of his 9 years taking home the trophy once. This year marks his second year as a lifetime team owner. Originally from Brooklyn, NY, Bill worships the New York (don't call them Jersey) Giants and is also a fan of the Jets... although he hates Bill Parcells more and more everyday - having now abandoned both teams he loves. Bill believes all fantasy leagues should be "carry-over" or "lifetime" leagues to truly test a fantasy owner's skill and resolve, although he always joins at least one traditional re-draft league just to experience the thrill of the draft.
