Player Team Type Comment
Bates, Michael CAR UFA Well, he's no Rae Carruth, and by that I mean he doesn't have his talent, of course he doesn't kill pregnant girlfriends either. Still, he's a serviceable backup and could be a #4 WR for you if you're lucky.
Blackwell, Will PIT UFA There hasn't been a good Pittsburgh WR since Lynn Swann. Of course, with "Mr. INT" Kordell Stewart throwing the ball, how could there be a good WR?
Bradford, Corey GB RFA Up-and-down career in Green Bay will be settled this year - if he stays he could be a sleeper #3 WR for you, if he goes, he's probably not much better than a #4.
Brisby, Vincent NYJ UFA Too much youth on the Jets in this position for him to stay around, although they might lose Ward so maybe his veteran leadership could be used. Either way I don't see him producing for you though.
Brooks, Macey CHI UFA The Bears had a potent offense last year and he was an up-and-comer, now the Bears are ho-hum again and I'd rather have Macey Gray on my team then Macey Brooks.
Brooks, Robert DEN UFA He should've never come out of retirement. Hopefully he'll go back into it his off-season. No value here.
Brown, Bobby CLE RFA No, not the "Ghostbuster" rapping, drug abusing, womanizing, ghetto punk that Whitney's married to. This Bobby is an undrafted rookie on a bad team - think he's worth anything?
Byrd, Isaac CAR UFA A bust everywhere he's been. I see no reason for that to change no matter where he ends up.
Cody, Mac ARI RFA He's not going anywhere.
Connell, Albert WAS UFA Connell's ego is bigger than his talent and he's already priced himself out of Washington, now it's just a matter of where he ends up and his role there. For now, think #3 WR on your squad.
Connell, Albert WAS UFA Connell's ego is bigger than his talent and he could price himself out of Washington, especially with the emergence of James Thrash. Whether he stays here or catches on somewhere else as a starter he's a #3 WR for you.
Dawkins, Sean SEA UFA Highly sought-after last off-season, now he's a has-been. If Holmgren cuts him loose like I think he will he'll land somewhere as a backup but that won't help us much.
Doering, Chris DEN RFA McCaffrey and Smith aren't getting any younger; he should stick around and see more playing time.
Dunn, David OAK UFA If Jerry Porter hasn't impressed Gruden enough then Dunn gets resigned as a starter, especially since I think James Jett is a goner.
Dwight, Tim ATL RFA Mr. Excitement is hurt by the lack of offense in Atlanta, but he's too valuable as a returner for the Falcons to let go.
Emanuel, Bert MIA UFA He should be nowhere near Miami once free-agency starts, but that doesn't mean he's leaving on his terms. Depends on where he goes and his role there on whether or not he is a viable fantasy player.
German, Jammi ATL RFA Another Falcon wideout that has some potential to be a #4 WR for you but doesn't get the reps to warrant starting except for bye weeks.
German, Jammi ATL RFA Another Falcon wide-out that has some potential to be a #4 WR for you but doesn't get the reps to warrant starting except for bye weeks.
Green, E.G. IND RFA With Harrison and Pathon in Indy, Green could be let go, but the Colts really don't have any depth at WR so he's needed there and will probably stay.
Green, Yatil OAK UFA Huge #1 pick for Miami that has been a huge bust. Even Al Davis can't resurrect this bum's career.
Hakim, Az-Zahir STL RFA He's gotta be resigned, this team is in enough turmoil as it is and can't afford to lose his return skills. The problem is can they match the offers he will receive to be a starting WR as well as a returner?
Hankton, Karl CAR RFA I only know 2 things about Karl Hankton; (1) he's not worthy of a roster spot, and (2) his last name rhymes with Plankton.
Hatchette, Matthew MIN UFA Big disappointment in Minnesota, but with Moss and Carter catching balls there's really nothing to do as a WR there. He'll probably stay as the #3 or #4 WR and continue to disappoint in fantasyland.
Hawkins, Courtney PIT UFA If the Steelers can settle on an offensive coordinator and a QB, then maybe we can start looking at WRs in Pittsburgh, but until then, it's a lost cause.
Hayes, Donald CAR RFA Hayes had a shot this year with Jeffers out to become a stud - he didn't. He'll go back to a #3 WR in Carolina if he stays. I expect him to try and get out, but the Panthers may match if it's a realistic offer. If he goes to start somewhere else he's a definate #2 WR on your squad. If he stays in Carolina as a #3 then that's what he is on your team too.
Horne, Tony STL RFA Another Rams speedster that will probably be overpriced in the free-agent market. If St. Louis can't match he could be a bug surprise on your team as you're used to him being a backup in St. Louis.
Howard, Desmond DET UFA Nothing more than a return man wherever he ends up.
Jackson, Willie NO UFA Big playoffs have put his name in the limelight. Lots of questions though - will he stay and start or will Reed be back as a starter opposite Horn? Will Brooks be QB or Blake?
Jacquet, Nate MIN UFA The Vikings were the 3rd team he played for last year, and he'll probably be elsewhere next year. If the Dolphins, Chargers and probably the Vikings don't want him, why would you?
Jett, James OAK UFA I can't imagine the Raiders resigning him with Dunn and Porter on the team, and if he's not streaking down the sidelines for the deep ball he's no good to you.
Johnson, Patrick BAL RFA He was hurt a lot of this year so it's hard to tell what will happen with him, but Baltimore sure needs the help in the passing game so I imagine he'll be back.
Jones, Reggie SD RFA He was crybaby Ryan Leaf's favorite target - oh wait, that was Freddie Jones - nevermind.
Jurevicius, Joe NYG RFA He's been underused in NY due to his inability to beat out Hilliard or Toomer, but even on another team he'd only be a #3 WR at best, so I think he stays.
Kennison, Eddie CHI UFA Huge disappointment. Remember when he was opposite Isaac Bruce in St. Louis? Yeah, I bet he does too. I can’t see him returning to the windy city, or going back to New Orleans, but what about going back to the Rams if they lose Hakim and/or Horne?
Lockett, Kevin KC UFA Derrick Alexander and Tony Gonzalez own the passing game in KC. Sly Morris is a future star so there's nothing Lockett can add except depth. No matter what happens to him you want to avoid him.
Mason, Derrick TEN UFA The anemic Titans' passing game needs all the help it can get - and it's not coming from Pickens so Mason is probably kept.
McDaniel, Jeremy BUF RFA No way they let him go anywhere after coming on strong in the second half and pressuring Peerless Price for playing time. He should be a sleeper this year.
McKnight, James DAL UFA If he stays, and if he stays healthy, along with Joey Galloway, Dallas could have an awesome offense. Lots of "ifs" though.
Miller, Billy DEN RFA All I can say about him is I see his name and I reminisce about a young Anthony Miller.
Moulds, Eric BUF UFA With no GM, a new coach and still a QB controversy (although not for long), I wouldn't be surprised to see Moulds go elsewhere - he's easily the most sought-after free-agent WR this year, but he should be "franchised".
Moulds, Eric BUF UFA With no GM, a below-average coach (or a new coach?) and a QB controversy, I wouldn't be surprised to see Moulds go elsewhere - he's probably the most sough-after free-agent WR this year.
Nash, Marcus BAL RFA Didn't do much here, or in Denver earlier, so I don't expect he'll ever do much.
Ogden, Jeff MIA RFA Not much value here - avoid.
Patten, David CIN UFA Actually played pretty well for the lowly Browns this year. He thought he was better than he was in NY and the Giants let him go; I expect he'll think the same here and go elsewhere, but he's not worthy of a roster spot unless you can carry 6 WRs.
Reed, Andre WAS UFA Time to retire and await your hall of fame induction.
Rison, Andre OAK UFA Bad Moon, Spiderman…what the hell does this has-been call himself now? Regardless, he fits the Raiders mold and is a nice veteran compliment to Tim Brown while Porter and Dunn try to unseat him. I think he'll stay here and start for the first half of next year.
Shaw, Bobby PIT RFA Another Steelers WR not worth discussing unless he leaves or until we know what's happening offensively in Pittsburgh next year.
Shedd, Kenny WAS UFA This ex-Raider will surely be an ex-Redskin soon - stay away!
Shepherd, Leslie MIA UFA The Dolphins are loaded with WRs…not very good ones, but loaded nonetheless. He didn't work out too well this year but he may be kept around for injury insurance - he's cheap enough. Even if he does move on I can’t see him increasing his worth to you.
Stablein, Brian DET UFA Solid backup WR…new regime in Motown should keep him around.
Stone, Dwight NYJ UFA Next year is his 15th! I don't want a WR with 15-year old legs unless it's Jerry Rice.
Thomas, Chris STL UFA Another Ram WR that could be gone, but least talented of the 3 that are eligible to fly this offseason.
Thomas, Lamar MIA UFA Wow, I look at all the WRs the dolphins have and then at their QBs and it's so clear why they couldn't advance in the playoffs - these guys suck!
Thrash, James WAS UFA Thrash may get a bigger-than-warranted payday from the over-spending Redskins due to his late-season stats and big play ability. Besides, Westbrook is always hurt and Connell is inconsistent so he's needed as backup there.
Tucker, Jason DAL RFA Still has possibility, and with McKnight's injury history I expect he'll stay.
Turner, Jim CAR RFA You know, I see guys like this and I think the NFL has way too many roster spots allowed.
Uwaezuoke, Iheanyi CAR UFA He should just go back to Africa and play soccer.
Walsh, Chris MIN UFA If you can't get passed Hatchette on the depth chart you're no good to me in fantasyland, no matter where you end up next year.
Ward, Dedric NYJ UFA He was annoyed that he wasn't used more last year and like Keyshawn, resents Chrebet for some reason. He's not needed so much with Coles and Hayes playing well and with the turmoil on the Jets he will probably leave. Watch to see where he ends up, that will make the difference on where he fits on your roster.
Ward, Hines PIT RFA What? Another Steeler WR that we can't talk about right now? Yup.
Whitted, Alvis JAX RFA Too many studs ahead of him to even be considered unless they let him go elsewhere. But even then he'd only be a #4 for you at best.
