Bill runs down some of the 2001 Free Agents and gives his opinion on their final resting place. Quarterbacks, Running Backs, Wide Receivers, and Tight Ends.

Q U A R T E R B A C K S
Player Team Type Comment
Dilfer, Trent BAL UFA The Ravens need him to lead the ball-control offense they have employed to-date, but if he gets greedy Billick will let him fly since Billick likes a more wide-open offense anyway.
Frerotte, Gus DEN UFA He proved to be an efficient backup in Mike Shanahan's offense, filling in for the injured Brian Griese. There's no way Frerotte gets away from Denver.
Griese, Brian DEN RFA He's not going anywhere. Look for many more years of high fantasy scoring.
Harbaugh, Jim SD UFA The Chargers have got to dump him and start over right? Maybe. He's the only leader they have at this position and assuming the Chargers take a QB #1, he'll be needed for tutelage.
Johnson, Brad WAS UFA He's as good as gone, but where to? San Diego? Atlanta? How about up the beltway to Baltimore? Now that's intriguing.
Kitna, Jon SEA UFA He had his shot, now the backup roulette wheel starts for him in the NFL.
Lucas, Ray NYJ RFA With Pennington in the wings and Vinny in "trouble" it could go either way for his resigning in New York, but he wants to start and they probably won't happen in NY; although I can't see it happening anywhere.
Mitchell, Scott CIN UFA Remember when he was the most sought after free agent from the Dolphins and the Lions paid him all that money? I hope he invested wisely. Ignore this bum no matter what happens to him.
Moreno, Moses SD RFA The Chargers offense just plain sucks, Ryan Leaf had some moments this past year, and they'll be on the market (free-agency, trade or draft) to get a real QB anyway, so pay no attention to him.
