Carolina Panthers at Atlanta Falcons

Game Preview
Mike Krueger

Predicted Score: Panthers 21, Falcons 9

Atlanta: The bread and butter of the Falcons has always been their rushing attack. So far the team hasn't rushed for 100 yds in either game and the offense has a grand total of 14 points. What can only be described as "leaving no stone unturned" the Falcons have signed Byron Leftwich who sadly may be an upgrade over current starter Joey Harrington. The QB switch is coming; it's just a matter of when. This is the Falcons' first home game of the year but after the initial rush of emotion; don't be surprised if you hear a pin drop during the 2nd half. Warrick Dunn remains the featured back getting 35 attempts to Norwood's 14. All Atlanta wide receivers should be avoided until further notice.

  • Start: N/A
  • Consider: RB Warrick Dunn, TE Alge Crumpler, RB Jerious Norwood, WR Roddy White
  • Sit: QB Joey Harrington, WR Joe Horn, WR Michael Jenkins

Carolina: The Panthers have three out of the last four games between these two and should continue that streak against a Falcons team in disarray. Carolina needs to get its offense back on track that is… everybody not named Steve Smith. Both DeShaun Foster and DeAngelo Williams were held in check last week while it appeared Keary Colbert and Drew Carter were playing with butter on their fingers, dropping 5 passes between them. This is a good time to get healthy as the Falcons just allowed 270 yards to a mediocre Jacksonville passing attack. The beat goes on for Steve Smith as he sits atop the fantasy WR list with 271 yards and 4 TDs. New rule: Never bench Steve Smith!

  • Start: WR Steve Smith, QB Jake Delhomme, RB DeShaun Foster, Panthers D/ST
  • Consider: RB DeAngelo Williams, WR Drew Carter
  • Sit: WR Keary Colbert, WR Dwayne Jarrett, TE Jeff King
