@ MickVV,
DHB hasn't shown much but Ford has done little this year and Moore has not been reliable (check out the completion percentage on his targets). DHB has more upside than both and was coming on. There are likely unexplained reasons for his lack of use.

@ SomeColtsGuy,
Thanks for the links. I stand by my comments - their recent drafts have been amongst the worst in the league.

@ TimInIndy,
Interesting insight although I am certain that Peyton Manning will never be traded, unless he asks for a trade, which is unlikely. I think Caldwell has done a fine job as a head coach but he's hamstrung by a lack of talent on the roster. In hindsight, they should have signed a veteran to back up Manning for 2011.

@ JoeyK,
Agreed - I think we'll find out after the season what the real issues are.

I am concerned about wr/DHB.. I think there are some underlining
circumstances we are not aware of. Yes, Moore & Ford are gooWR, but DHB was also a #1 draft pick + when Carson Palmer first
came to OAK he said He was very impressed with DHB ????

Somecoltsguy you are not exactly correct regarless of that info. I live in Indianapolis. I am not a diehard Colt fan but have went to one or two games a year for several years. Frankly alot of people are tired of Bill Polian's act. Bill "control freak" Polian has likely cost Indy as many superbowls as they have won. The tanking of Jet game in 2009 rather than go for undefeated season was the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. Reason was for injuries. Then DE Freeney is hurt in SuperBowl which may have been the difference.

For years Colt fans have clamored for a decent backup for Manning. Now if that was at bequest of Manning or Polian's decision it was a bad non move. Somecolt guy you are right in that Polian has gotten good picks in lower part of draft. But since Dungy left the Colts top picks have whiffed. Every team whiffs but the misses over consectuvive drafts hurt.

Gonzalez 1st rd pick. The trade to get Tony Ugoh giving up 1st rd pick, Donald Brown 1st rd pick, Jerry Hughes 1st rd and Mike Pollack. Now hindsight is 20/20 but all these misses caused issues by forcing the Colts to resign or draft other players. If Gonzo works out then Wayne resigning not as important. Regardless now Wayne will leave next year. Ugoh was suppose to be next LT for years... If Brown had panned out Adai would not have been resigned. Adai is quality player but injury prone. Polian admitted hat Colts should have taken Off lineman instead of Hughes who is an abolute bust. The Colts stated they loved Dalton at QB. Well they took Pollack late in 1st rd and Dalton was there for the taking. My understanding is Chris "nepotism" Polian had his fingers all over these moves.

At end of year rather than just fire Caldwell as coach. Irsay should thank Bill Polian for his efforts in building a very successful franchise over the years. He then should send Polian off into etirement and not hire Chris Polian as the GM. Then Irsay should bring in a new qualified GM with a new coach. Especially if Andrew Luck is the # 1 pick to Colts. What kinda GM/coach will you get if you are holding Andrew Luck pick and have Peyton Manning? I'd say high quality. If Manning can't get behind these moves. Colts should go ahead try show he is healthy and trade Manning. Especially when it will save franchise millions.

Thanks for your work. But you are dead wrong, like just about everyone, on the Colts' recent drafting. They have stomped, for example, the Patriots, and have been among the best in the league in the past 5 years on a wide array of metrics. The Colts started this year stronger than their Super Bowl team in '09 minus Manning.

Here's an article researched by someone who was very critical of the Colts' drafting (their numbers turned them around)

Point is, only people who haven't looked at any numbers think the Colts draft poorly.

On the Colts' draft strategy (e.g. BAP or need):

Let me help you out on the DHB question. Jacoby Ford and Denarius Moore are better. Sure, DHB can rack up catches, and yes he's com a long way. But Ford and Moore are superior receivers. Other guys on the roster may be as well.
