Tolbert also gets the fourth quarter pound it out work. That being said, I would never bench Mendenhall against the Raiders.

@ Lawdawg,
Steelers seem to be struggling (3-3 in their last six) so I’m not sure that I agree that they will be leading most of the time. Plus, Mendenhall is averaging five fewer PPG with Big Ben starting.

@ Ken,
Agree that Mendenhall is preferred over Tolbert this week. Just not sold that he’s a top ten back the rest of the way.

@ Stock tips,
Didn’t know FFToday was now offering stock tips. I guess we’re branching out.

Don’t count on Tolbert dong anything amazing just because Gates and Mathews are limited/may not play. TE Randy McMichael used to be a stud at the position and did an excellent job filling in for Gates last week.

Mendy gets the Raiders this week, which isn’t a great matchup but it beats the one his QBs and WRs face, so PIT will likely lean on him. I’d start Mendy.

I disagree about Mendenhall. He’s a beast and he’s their kind of runner. Rothlisberger passed that much ‘cuz they were getting their butts kicked. I think they’ll continue to pound with Mendenhall when they have the lead, which should be most of the time.

The comments on Mendenhall, that was exactly what I didn’t want to hear–and I think they’re right on the money.

I know I’m supposed to always play my studs, and Mendenhall’s one of them–but, but, but…

Playing Tolbert instead of Mendenhall is really tempting this week. Ryan Matthews still can’t practice as of today, and if Antonio Gates can’t go? Turner might rely a lot more on the run. Add to that–Denver’s run defense is even worse than the Raiders’…

I’m sure it’s hard to put a guy under the “Movin’ Up” column comin’ off a bye, but if Antonio Gates can’t go? I’m thinkin’ Tolbert instead of Mendenhall this week.
